I disagree with your inclusion of quartz as a silicate mineral. Quartz is an oxide. It is a SILICA mineral, but not a SILICATE mineral.
Depends on whose classification you use, Dana or Strunz. I generally use Dana, but agree that quartz and the quartz varieties categ. should be listed under both oxide and silicate categories. -Vsmith 16:56, 6 Mar 2005 (UTC)
